Life very much is a construct, a co-creation between what’s out there and what’s inside our heads, and in that sense, we do blur fact and fiction. So to me it’s a novel about interpretation, how do we interpret the facts and that possibly many different stories can map over the same facts. One thing I notice when I do readings, is people always ask me about the book. In fact, I think to a certain extent it’s probably counter productive for the book. So to break out of that solitude and share it in a sense, I find that very gratifying. The life of the mind is as good as it gets. It’s a very solitary profession being a writer. It's a story, as one character puts it, to make you believe in God.Q: How do you like the publicity tour aspect of being a writer?Ī: “I love it.
